I fell asleep at the opera today. It was a matinee of Hansel and Gretel at the Met. My second opera ever; my first one in English. (At age 15 I attended an opera in Rome. I also fell asleep. Opera is not my bag.)

In Hansel and Gretel, as you know, a cannibalistic witch tries to kill a child and ends up roasting alive in an oven. Cannibalism and witches roasting in ovens. Sweeney Todd, anyone? My macabre Christmas theme continues.

Merry Christmas!!!
